Meet Athena — or as we often call her, Athena-Banana!
Imported from Ukraine during the war, Athena is a Doberman with a heart of gold and a spirit that lights up the world. She is truly my once-in-a-lifetime dog — the one whose bond with me runs so deep, I often say: the day she leaves this world, I will leave with her.
Her drive is sky-high — she will work with absolutely anyone who has a toy in hand (her enthusiasm is impossible to resist!) — but in any difficult situation, there’s no doubt: she will always give her best when she’s with her favorite human — her mom. When Athena and I work together, it feels as if the planet stops turning and stars begin to shine in both our eyes. You can see what love looks like.
Athena’s list of accomplishments is long: she holds numerous titles with Do More With Your Dog, Obedience, Animal Acting, and so much more. And even in disciplines where she doesn’t yet have a title, she always amazes with her natural talent, passion, and joy for learning.
Her long, elegant cropped ears first earned her the nickname Athena-Antena, but thanks to her irresistible habit of trying to steal a bite of any banana (or apple — though Athena-Apple didn’t sound quite as cute!), she quickly became our beloved Athena-Banana.
Every single day, Athena fills my life with joy, purpose, and love beyond words. She is not just my dog — she is my heart, she is my everything.
