Deimos

Deimos (“Nunus” to his friends) holds a very special place in our hearts, even though he is not part of our breeding program (he is neutered). We proudly share his story on our website because he is the reason we fell in love with the Dobermann Pinscher breed.
Several years ago, we agreed to foster three Dobermann puppies from a non-reputable source—“just for a couple of weeks” we said. But Deimos, with his irresistible sweetness, quickly worked his way into our lives and we became happy “foster fails.” Deimos is not registered and his pedigree is unknown, as he is essentially a rescue.
Sadly, it wasn’t long before the first signs of health issues began to appear—something far too common when dogs come from unethical breeders. At just five months old, Deimos needed surgery to remove a benign tumor, which left the visible scar you can still see on his ribcage. Later, he began experiencing episodes of Head Bobbing Syndrome (also known as Idiopathic Head Tremors), and showed tightness in his hip movements. With the help of a canine physiotherapy specialist, we developed a dedicated conditioning program to support his mobility and keep him active and strong.
We lovingly refer to Deimos as our “little lemon,” but he is truly one of a kind. He continues to enjoy life to the fullest and joins us on every adventure. His story, though, is a reminder of why we are so passionate about improving the breed. Unfortunately, Deimos’ experience is all too typical of many Dobermanns in North America—where irresponsible breeding practices often result in unnecessary suffering.
Our mission is to help change this reality. We select every dog in our breeding program (both males and females) from proven champion bloodlines with rigorous health testing—DNA, cardiac, hips, elbows—and full conformity to the breed standard. We also carefully manage genetic diversity, sourcing from the best lines around the world to achieve 0% Coefficient of Inbreeding (COI). With Deimos in our hearts, we remain committed to protecting and improving this magnificent breed.
